Gordon Brown was head of the SERAP data services group at Bath University from 1994 until it was acquired by RM Data Solutions in 2007. Following the acquisition, Gordon took the position of Data Services Director to focus on Data Services across RM Data Solutions.
Gordon started his career in information technology in 1980. Working initially for a systems integrator he gained a wide range of experience in project management across a number of business areas including local government, banking, and logistics.
Since 1994, Gordon has specialised in the management of service delivery in the field of educational data services. Major areas of achievement have been:
- Software Factory Manager for the development of the core application systems to support local government in the implementation of Community Charge and related initiatives. These systems were central to the operation of the majority of local government authorities in England. (1988-1991)
- Project Manger for the specification and development of a major series of enhancement to American Express’s International Banking System (1992-1993).
- Instigated and managed the development of the initial ‘EPAS’ software application. EPAS is used to analyse candidate level educational attainment data and has been implemented in all of the Local Education Authorities in England (1997-1999).
- As Head of the SERAP Group managed the service delivery of the data collection and matching aspects of NPDAAT project and its forerunner the AAT project. (1994-2008).
