Matching of Attainment, Learner, School and Qualification Data into a Longitudinal Database (DCSF, DE, NCER, OCR)

 

RM Data Solutions maintains a database of educational data covering England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and Service Schools. The database holds attainment data collected directly from awarding bodies and other sources, together with learner information such as that collected through the school census. The database is the source of information for a number of projects and services including NPDAAT, RAISEonline, EPAS and Active Results.

In building and maintaining this database, RM Data Solutions undertakes a number of data processing activities including: 

  • Matching (both directly and using fuzzy matching techniques) to link the individual items of data together to give a complete picture for each learner
  • Cleaning and matching information about exam centres, institutions and qualifications and accurately linking this to attainment information
  • De-duplication of attainment data

This is a complex high volume activity delivered within tight timescales with a requirement for a high level of accuracy.

This extends to providing consultancy on performance measures in addition to their calculation. We carry out this work for a range of projects including RAISEonline, NPDAAT, EPAS and Active Results.
