Our team, through our range of programmes delivers high quality, expert professional development to those in schools, local authorities and other organisations. Our education focus includes all in one subscription packages for schools, a comprehensive suite of courses for local authorities, support for school inspection teams and training development services. We are essentially about empowering informed decisions across the sector, ensuring that data and data systems are used effectively with impact. RAISEonline and FFT events, data literacy courses, writing of the Evaluating School Performance elearning suite from the National Strategies are just some of the examples of specialist work. Through our programmes we offer a range of courses, training and support consultancy.

Data Enabler: "Maximising the use of primary data using FFT and RAISEonline in effective schools"

Autumn 2009 events included: “Customising RAISEonline”, a hands on workshop focused upon data management and “School accountability and inspection using RAISEonline”, hands on workshops focusing on the interpretation of school data.

The training services team at RM Data Solutions brings together outstanding practitioners, advisers and experts in the effective use of performance data. Through this team we support you across a range of quality programmes. Featured team members:

 

Andrew Hill BEd, PgDpEd, MInstLM, FITOL
Head of Training Services

Andrew is a leading educational adviser on data literacy and pupil performance in the UK. He specialises in the use of data by practitioners, its interpretation, application and impact; working regularly with teachers, headteachers, school inspectors and government advisers. Andrew is the Head of Training Services at RM Data Solutions, the producers of RAISEonline, leading on the development of training and professional development programmes in the public sector. He is the adviser for the e-learning design and course development, including authoring much of the National Strategies evaluating school performance suite www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/esp and consults upon the user experience of data systems.

Areas of work include; school improvement and leadership consultancy and professional development, developing and directing professional development programmes with the education, young person’s, third and public service sectors, e-Professional development / e-learning writing, design, evaluation and consultation, conference speaker, consultancy in the effective use of data and evidence based leadership and expert interpretation of performance data including RAISEonline & FFT live.

Previously Andrew taught in inner city schools, originates from Cornwall and now lives outside Manchester in the foothills of the Pennines, with his family. He is a volunteer for The Scout Association and a Primary School Governor.

Dave Thomson BA (1st Class Hons), MSc
Head of Data Analytics 

Dave has many years experience in training & supporting the use of data to secure school improvement with headteachers, school leaders, teachers, local authority advisers and school improvement partners, governors and Diocesan education officers. In addition, he has presented a number of sessions for Fischer Family Trust (FFT) on the use of statistical modeling for research staff in local authorities. Dave has ten years experience analysing education data within local government and academic sectors, primarily specialising in using data to improve school performance. He has also contributed extensively to the design of online reporting systems for a range of new customers including the Department of Education in Northern Ireland (DENI).

As Head of Data Analysis, Dave manages a small team that provides a range of data analysis services to bring about a better understanding of customers’ businesses. This includes working with customers to identify and specify analyses, business rules and data handling processes.

Rob Pearce GINST
Associate Adviser

Rob is a senior manager who has obtained a vast amount of experience in the training industry. He has been involved with computing from its earliest days in commerce and contributed to the early development, testing and support for the DCSF’s Pupil Achievement Tracker. Rob has a thorough understanding of school and pupil needs and has presented at national workshops for the DCSF and many local authority workshops and seminars for their staff and schools. Rob has worked closely with some of the best authorities in the assessment of pupils in the country for RAISEonline, where he considerably developed his skills in interpretation of pupil results, the use of contextual value added (CVA) and effective school targets. These skills were utilised to conduct strategies for teaching and intervention together with robust self-evaluation. He has produced a great deal of training material and authored e-learning modules for the National Strategies. He works well in group environments and believes firmly that ‘hands-on’ is the best form of training that can be given.

 

Teresa Zbyszewska (Terri) BSc (Hons), PGCE, MSc, MIITT
Associate Adviser

Terri has worked for over twenty years as a teacher of mathematics and ICT. Her main role now is helping schools to make the best use of software in administration, assessment of and for learning, and self-evaluation. She is a consultant and trainer in the use of various Management Information and Planning software, including Sims and RAISEonline. Work includes the design of school systems that build on the use of RAISEonline and FFTlive. Terri strongly believes that when schools use their software effectively all members of the school community benefit. Terri works with local authorities as well as individual schools, both primary and secondary, in both the state and private sector. Recent projects have included the rollout of tracking systems in local authorities and working closely with London Academies to develop their assessment procedures.
